August 24, 2015
Consumers Favor Walmart and Target for 2015 Spending
WARREN, NJ (August 24, 2015) – In the U.S., August retail sales see a consistent lift with back to school shopping. According to a new mobile survey from Lightspeed GMI, the majority of parents plan to spend up to $250 on back-to-school clothing, while only budgeting $50 for school supplies. The majority (62%) of consumers shop both online and in-store with Walmart and Target leading the way, followed by Kohl’s and Old Navy.
“Back-to-school shopping season boasts new trends for a new year,” stated Laura Sigman, Lightspeed GMI’s Marketing Director, the Americas. “School supplies are less of priority right now, but will continue to be purchased throughout the school year as needed.”
