Survey Shows Americans Rely on Tax Refunds to Pay Off Credit Cards

WARREN, N.J. (April 08, 2011) – Lightspeed Research today released results of a survey of American taxpayers asking whether they expect to receive a 2010 tax refund and, if so, how they plan to spend it. Of those expecting a tax refund this year (64 percent), 43 percent say they will use the money to pay off debt. For those planning to pay off debt, credit cards top the list – two out of three say they’ll be putting money toward a credit card balance.

PC is Medium of Choice for March Madness

WARREN, N.J. (March 15, 2011) – The home PC will be the most watched device to check NCAA tournament scores, according to a survey by Lightspeed Research.
The survey of more than 1,000 Lightspeed Research panelists today revealed that the PC beat the TV, which 79 percent said they would consult for scores. Newspapers came in third at 29 percent. Surprisingly, smartphones were a distant fourth at 17 percent.
Half of Lightspeed Research’s nationally representative sample said they will not watch any March Madness games this year. Of those who will or may watch the games, an overwhelming majority (92 percent) will be staying home to watch games and a quarter (23 percent) will watch some games at a restaurant/bar.
